Cleadon

Having sat vacant for a number of years the new purchasers of the Former Cleadon Infant School appointed Fitz Architects to review an existing planning application for the site that originally proposed a conversion into 6 apartments.

Through sensitive redesign and attention to the existing architectural features of the main historic school building, we have converted the building into 2 large, luxury dwellings without affecting the character of the existing building. As a result we have retained the high vaulted ceilings, taken advantage of the large tall windows to ensure the maximum amount of natural daylight and restored many original features.
As with every conversion there were challenges that needed to be overcome which on this project resulted in extensive discussions and consultations with Natural England. Through clear communication between ourselves and the main contractor the project was delivered on time and budget.
